Hyderabad, India (CNS) - "Harry Potter" mastermind J.K. Rowling has been honored by animation and gaming company DQ Entertainment for her outstanding contribution towards children entertainment on Sunday.

The multi-award winning English author was voted almost unanimously by the jury for the DQE Lifetime Achievement Award for selling more than 400 million copies of her "Harry Potter" novel series, which also spurned a string of blockbuster films.

DQ Entertainment launched the Lifetime Achievement Award last year at the Cannes Film Festival "MIPCOM 2008" to be presented every year to people who have made creative contribution of outstanding significance to entertainment that goes beyond cultural, linguistic and other boundaries.

The award last year was posthumously given to Rene Goscinny in recognition of his contribution towards children entertainment. He created characters like "Le Petit Nicolas," "Asterix," and "Lucky Luke."

The award ceremony was held at Cannes' Hotel Martinez on October 4.

DQ Entertainment is an animation, gaming and entertainment production and global distribution group engaged in production, co-production and original IP development.
