Daytona Beach, FL (AHN) - After being arrested and jailed for alleged DUI and drug charges, driver J.C. France, the grandson of late NASCAR founder Bill France Sr., has been suspended indefinitely by the Grand American Road Racing Series. France, the son of former International Speedway Corporation Chairman Jim France, will not be able to appeal the suspension and it's length is indefinite according to NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston. NASCAR owns the Grand Am Series. "Grand Am has issued a penalty notice and suspended J.C. indefinitely from all competition for actions detrimental to racing,'' Poston said in a statement. "The penalty is not appealable. J.C. is being treated like any other competitor. His suspension is immediate and indefinite.''

France was arrested just after midnight Wednesday night for driving under the influence and also charged for possession of cocaine.

The cousin to NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France was pulled over for racing over the Seabreeze Bridge and according to police reports he failed a field sobriety test.

According to police reports, France was racing a 2007 Lamborghini around midnight against his former stepbrother and housemate Russell Van Richmond, who was also jailed on multiple charges as well.

According to the report, when the pockets of both men were searched police found plastic bags with cocaine in them.

Both were charged with DUI with reported bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

France posted $4,500 bail just after noon on Thursday and Van Richmond was released on $10,500 bail.
