Hollywood, CA (CNS) - Who would have thought a movie about two people who hate each other and stumble into love would make more than $300 million at the box office? And now, the summer's sleeper romance is available for your home viewing experience.
"The Proposal," starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, comes out today on DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def. Released through Buena Vista Home Entertainment, the romantic comedy is available in either 2-disc or single disc editions in both formats.
The 108-minute movie is rated PG-13 and includes numerous bonus features, which are unrated. Features include bloopers, deleted scenes, a never-before-seen alternate ending and extra audio commentary by writer Peter Chiarelli and director Anne Fletcher, who also directed the 2008 romantic comedy "27 Dresses."
Fletcher's film follows the exploits of tyrannical publishing executive Margaret (Bullock), whose personal assistant, Andrew (Reynolds), is ready to quit after being mistreated by his boss for years. But he finds himself given the most difficult task of all when Margaret strong arms him into matrimony. As a Canadian citizen, she needs a green card to stay in the States, and he needs a promotion, which she promises him if he goes along with the scheme. But the simple plan goes haywire when the couple has to announce their engagement at Andrew's grandmother's (Betty White) 90th birthday party at his parents' (Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson) estate in Alaska.
The cast also includes Malin Akerman, Oscar Nunez, Denis O'Hare and Niecy Nash. The movie retails in the United States for $44.99 for the 2-disc Blu-ray ($51.99 in Canada), $39.99 for the 2-disc DVD ($44.99 Canada) and $29.99 for the single disc DVD ($35.99 Canada). The single disc Blu-ray is available in Canada for $44.99. Both 2-disc sets also include Digital File, which allows for download on many electronic devices.
