New York, NY (CNS) - Fans of the Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum musician Wyclef Jean will now get to read first-hand about the ups and downs about the life of the artist. The book will chronicle his childhood in the rural village of La Serre in Haiti and his immigration to Brooklyn, New York.

It Books announced plans to publish the memoir of Jean, who will be penning the novel with bestselling author and Rolling Stone writer Anthony Bozza. Bozza has co-authored books with artists such as Eminem and his book "Whatever You Say I Am" and Tommy Lee's "Tommyland."

Wyclef will discuss his journey into pop culture which began at the age of 9 and his struggle between leading the double life as the son of a preacher playing music in church and becoming a young rapper working to fit in with his peers. It will continue on to document his phenomenal success as the founding member of The Fugees and afterwards, his successful solo career as a musician, performer, songwriter and producer.

The book will also highlight Wyclef's work as a global philanthropist and the charity he founded in 2005, Yele Haiti, in an effort to change the way the world views Haiti.

"I am so happy to share my journey which took me from the hut to the projects to the mansion," said Wyclef Jean. "I am just getting started and feel so excited about It Books publishing the early stories from my life."

"Wyclef has an incredible story, filled with drama, humor and inspiration," said DiPreta, Vice President and Associate Publisher for It Books. "It is above all a very human story, not necessarily one of celebrity, and I'm happy to say that he is as gifted a storyteller as he is a musician."
