U.N. To Name Tinker Bell As Honorary Ambassador Of Green

Topics: MoviesNew York, NY (CNS) - Disney's beloved little fairy Tinker Bell is set to be named an Honorary Ambassador of Green. United Nationals Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Kiyo Akasaka will be bestowing the littlest "Peter Pan" sidekick the honor on Sunday.

The presentation of her honor will be followed by the world premiere of the animated film "Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure."
Family-friendly studio Disney has sought to inspire love of nature in the upcoming film. Tinker Bell's films have an underlying theme of environmentalism, told through the magical world of fairies.
Tinker Bell, the fictional character best known for guiding Peter Pan through Never Land, will be named an Honorary Ambassador of Green. U.N. believes that her appointment is a great opportunity for her to play a key role in inspiring kids.
It will also promote environmental awareness in the lead-up to the upcoming Copenhagen conference on Climate Change.
Voice casts Raven Symone and Mae Whitman will be at the event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on October 25.
"Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure" will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 27.
