Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - A 12-member Bangladeshi business delegation left Dhaka on Monday for Meghalaya and Guwahati of India aiming to boost bilateral trade activities between the two countries.

President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Annisul Huq is leading the delegation while members of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) also included.

During its five-day visit, the delegation will hold meetings with the deputy chief minister and the minister for border trade of Meghalaya. The delegation will also meet secretaries, customs officials and business leaders of the two Indian northeastern provinces.

The country's apex trade body leaders will seek necessary support from the Indian counterpart regarding Bangladesh's export and other relevant matters, a FBCCI press statement said in Dhaka on Monday.

"The private sector leaders will also urge the Indian business community to go for joint venture specially in the mineral based industry. They will also discuss about connectivity and direct air and road link between Bangladesh and those Indian provinces," the FBCCI added.

The FBCCI delegation is also scheduled to meet the leaders of the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) in Kolkata on October 30 this year.
