Mike Judge's "Extract" Set To Be Released On DVD

Burbank, CA (CNS) - What's the next best thing to having a candy cane during the holiday season? Having some artificial peppermint flavoring courtesy of the latest addition to your DVD collection.

"Extract" will soon be available on home video. The Mike Judge comedy is scheduled to be released from Miramax Films and Buena Vista Home Entertainment on DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def on Dec. 22.

The movie follows factory owner and manager Joel (Jason Bateman), whose working life is one long hassle, and his marriage is no better, with his wife (Kristen Wiig) barely showing him any affection. An accident on the job involving an employee (Clifton Collins Jr.) only further convinces Joel that he needs to get out of the extract business. But when a young temp (Mila Kunis) starts fawning over him it could spell trouble for everybody as Joel schemes to arrange for his wife to cheat on him with a young pool cleaner (Dustin Milligan) to avoid feeling guilty about his own planned affair.

The film's stars include Ben Affleck, J.K. Simmons, David Koechner, Beth Grant, Kiss singer Gene Simmons and the movie's writer/director Judge.

Judge has also directed the films "Office Space," "Idiocracy" and "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America," the television series for which was his first big hit. With other TV titles like "King of the Hill" - which finished a 13-season run in 2009 - and "The Goode Family" under his belt, Judge is renowned for his satirical commentary, outlandish characters and everyday humor.

Included as part of the DVD's special features is the featurette "Mike Judge's Secret Recipe." The segment breaks down the making of the director's style from the viewpoint of the factory floor of "Extract." Also, only on the Blu-ray, more of the movie is seen with extended scenes and a deleted scene.

The DVD of "Extract" retails for $29.99 and the Blu-ray for $39.99.
