Chicago, IL (AHN) - A reported possible trade for disgruntled outfielder Milton Bradley in exchange for Blue Jays Vernon Wells was shot down by the Chicago Cubs, the team indicated.

To begin with there is an $86 million dollar difference in their contracts.

Bradley, 31, suspended by the Cubs for the remainder of the season on Sept due attitude problems, has two years and $21 million remaining on his contract.

While Wells, who has had several consecutive sub-par seasons, has six years left on $107 million contract he signed.

Meanwhile, Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster indicated that Bradley would be welcomed back by teammates in case a trade is not made this offseason, the Chicago Tribune reported.

This past season, Bradley hit .257 with 12 homers and 40 RBIs in 124 contests.
