Ninety Two-Skedoo! Witt Snaps Goal Scoring Funk, Islanders Top Oilers

Topics: NHLUniondale, NY (AHN) - Brendan Witt scored two goals, extending the New York Islanders winning streak to four games with a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Monday night.

New York's captain Doug Weight contributed with two assists in the game, once to rookie John Tavares in the first period to tie the game at 1-1 and again to Brendan Witt in the second period to make the score 3-1
Islanders defenseman Brendan Witt went 92 games with scoring a goal until Monday. It marked Witt's first multi-goal game in his 14th NHL career.
Goalie Dwayne Roloson, who is a former Edmonton goalie, had 22 saves and improved to 4-0-1 in his five starts this season.
Edmonton got an early lead when Ethan Moreau scored his second goal of the campaign.
The Oilers could not add to their lead and have now dropped five of their last six games overall.
Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin recorded 34 saves in the contest.
The New York Islanders improved to (5-4-5) on the year, extending their winning streak to four games.
New York travels upstate to play the Buffalo Sabres (8-2-1) Wednesday night.
The Edmonton Oilers fall to (7-7-1) and have lost five straight road contests. Edmonton will go back home to face the New York Rangers (9-5-1) on Thursday night.
