London, England (BANG) - A footman for Britain's Queen Elizabeth has been crowned British wrestling champion.

Royal servant David Hintz scooped the title after beating top fighter 'The Don' Ritchie in a cage battle and is now looking forward to returning to the royal household at Buckingham Palace to celebrate his victory.

He said: "The palace and the people there have always supported me, and I can't wait to show them the belt."

David - known as David Deville in the ring - won the title in a match held at Thurrock in Essex.

One of his biggest supporters is the queen, who is a fan of wrestling.

She famously got hooked on the sport during the heydey of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks on ITV's World Of Sport in the 1980s.

A source said: "The queen will be thrilled for him. David has a lot of fans at the palace."
