Dickinson, ND (AHN) - A search is continuing Tuesday for three missing Dickinson State University (ND) softball players who have not been heard from since Sunday night.

A friend received a frantic call then in which they sounded 'hysterical', according to a local TV station.

Afton Williamson, 20, of Grossmont, Calif.; Kyrstin Gemar, 22, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; and Ashley Neufeld, 21, of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, were reportedly heard talking about water in the cell phone call, according to KXMB-TV in Bismarck.

"The call was very scratchy and consisted of a call for help, and they mentioned were near a lake and water,"Lt. Rod Banyai, a spokesman with the Dickinson police department, said Tuesday in a press release.

One of the women's fathers told ABC TV the women often enjoyed going to a lake to talk.

The women were last seen in a white Jeep Cherokee with California tags bearing the number 3UBN521.

Foul play is not a chief consideration in the case, though it has not been ruled out, according to police.
