Dallas, TX (AHN) - Dallas Mavericks center Drew Gooden, who is alleged to have uttered a homophobic remark at a L.A. Clippers fan, denied making the comments.

According to reports citing team source, the 28-year-old NBA journeyman was not the person who uttered the comments in question; though they came from somebody who was with Gooden at Staples Center.

The incident stemmed following Saturday night's tilt when Gooden allegedly uttered a homophobic slur to spectator Chris Wylde, 33, and his friend, who reportedly made some "good natured" heckling while sitting adjacent to the Mavs bench.

Gooden sat behind the Mavs bench during the game while nursing a rib injury.

Gooden was present at the team's shootaround Tuesday morning, but declined to comment.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reportedly indicated that he would deal with the issue internally.

The NBA is also looking into the post-game incident.
