Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Levi Johnston has demanded an apology and he got one. "Tonight Show" Conan O'Brien apologized to the father of Sarah Palin's grandson for an earlier skit that featured William Shatner reading bizarre Twitter quotes falsely attributed to Johnston.

On Wednesday night, the NBC late night show commissioned the former Captain Kirk to dramatically read a series of Tweets from Johnston, which turns out to be written by a "clever impostor."

Among the Tweets believed to be written by Johnston include "What's the deal with taxi drivers not speaking English, is there a law against it?" and "Anybody know where I can get some good weed?"

Needless to say, Johnston was not amused. His lawyer is demanding a retraction from NBC, saying the 19-year-old current Palin nemesis never had a Twitter account.

O'Brien then took the time to apologize to the "very angry" real Levi Johnston, saying he found out that the Tweets were written by a "clever impostor" early Thursday.

He said, "I'd like to apologize personally to Levi Johnston and his lawyer and publicist for misrepresenting him in any way. Levi is clearly a great American. We wish him the best of luck as he trains for his upcoming naked photo shoot."

He then called on Shatner again to read a series of "lawyer approved" Johnston quotes.
