Fort Hood, TX (AHN) - A policewoman is being hailed a hero for shooting the man who killed 13 people and wounded 31 others at the Army base in Fort Hood, TX, on Thursday.

Kimberly Munley hit Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan four times during an exchange of gunfire and the injury stopped Hasan's shooting rampage, according to Fort Hood spokesman Col. John Rossi.
Munley was wounded in the shootout and hospitalized with other victims of the incident. Hasan, an army psychiatrist and native of Virginia, used two handguns in the shooting spree that may have been triggered by his opposition to the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hasan is being treated at an undisclosed hospital.
