European Stocks Advance To End Week Upbeat

London, England (AHN) - European stocks were upbeat as they finished the week, rising for a third day in the longest stretch of gains in weeks.

Benchmark indices in 10 of the 18 western European markets advanced.

In London, the FTSE 100 gained 17 points, or 0.3 percent, to end trading at 5,142.72. In Frankfurt, the DAX added 7.3 points to edge up 0.3 percent to 5,488. The CAC-40 in Paris was virtually unchanged, edging down 0.04 percent.

The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index rose 0.54 points, or 0.2 percent, to 241.06 after losing ground in the early afternoon. The gauge finished the week up 1.7 percent.
