Enid, OK (AHN) - An elephant escaped from a circus in Enid, Okla. Wednesday, sideswiping a car while running along the road.

The pachyderm broke a tusk and injured a leg after colliding with a car. The elephant escaped from the Family Fun Circus at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, the Enid News and Eagle reported.

A couple riding in the vehicle were not injured in the accident, which occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The elephant was loaded into a semi-trailer for transportation at 11:19 p.m., but not before the animal slightly injured a handler from the zoo who was trying to subdue the elephant.
