Bloomington, IN (AHN) - Running back Montee Ball scored two touchdowns, helping Wisconsin hold off Indiana 31-28 Saturday afternoon.

Montee Ball carried 27 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

Ball had a pair of short touchdown runs from one and three yards out.

John Clay also had a nice day on the ground rushing 15 times for 134 yards and a score.

The Badgers balanced rushing attack pounded Indiana for 249 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Wide receiver Nick Toon also played well for the Badgers, catching five passes for 123 yards.

Wisconsin quarterback Scott Tolzien managed the game well, completing 11-of-20 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown.

Indiana fought to the end but didn't have enough to pull off the upset.

The Hoosiers scored 14 fourth quarter points on the Badgers but Ball's three-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter was just enough to edge the Hoosiers 31-28.

Hoosiers junior quarterback Ben Chappell had a monster day, completing 25-of-35 pass attempts for 323 yards and three touchdowns.

The lack of rushing attack from Indiana was the x-factor in the game.

The Hoosiers only combined for 63 rushing yards compared to the Badgers 294 yards.

No. 21 Wisconsin avoids the upset and improves to (7-2) on the season. The Badgers will play Michigan (5-5) next Saturday.

Indiana falls to (4-6) with the loss and has put scares into No. 4 Iowa and No. 21 Wisconsin the past two weeks.

Indiana looks to rebound against No. 11 Penn State (8-2) next Saturday.
