Stanford, CA (AHN) - Toby Gerhart ran for a school-record of 223 yards and three touchdowns as the Stanford Cardinal defeated the No. 8 Oregon Ducks 51-42 Saturday.

Oregon entered the fourth quarter behind 45-28. They cut the lead down after two touchdowns.

Kenjon Barner rushed for a one-yard score to make it 48-34 Stanford.

Ducks' Jeremiah Masoli's pass to D.J. Davis for 21 yards made it 48-41.

But Stanford (6-3, 5-2) rebounded from the 20 point comeback on Nate Whitaker's third field goal of the contest with the clock winding down in regulation.

The loss diminished Oregon's (7-2, 5-1 Pac-10) hopes for a trip to the BCS title game.

Andrew Luck completed 12-for-20 throws for 251 yards and two scores for Stanford.

Jeremiah Masoli completed 21-of-37 passes for 335 yards and three touchdowns for the Ducks.
