Montreal, CA (AHN) - Ryan Malone had a goal and an assist and Antero Niittymaki made 36 saves to lift the Tampa Bay Lighting 3-1 over the Montreal Canadians Saturday.

Malone started the scoring on a power play at 10:09 in the game. Alex Tanguay followed with a rebound goal off of Malone's feed to defeat Montreal goalie Carey Price with 46.3 seconds left in the first period.

Tanguay signed a one-year deal with Tampa after the Canadians did not re-sign him. He also added an assist.

Brian Gionta collected his seventh goal of the season by blasting a shot to make it 2-1 Tampa.

The Lightning netted its final tally on James Wright's tip-in during the second frame for the win.
