Hoffman Estates, IL (AHN) - Fedor Emelianenko toppled Brett Rogers Saturday in the second round of their Strikeforce/M-1 Global "Fedor vs. Rogers," MMA Bout.

Emelianenko landed a right hook to Rogers' chin in a key blow that spelled the beginning of the end for the previously undefeated fighter.

Emelianenko took his share of the beating as well, going to an area hospital after the bout with a broken nose and a hand injury.

After a grueling first-round in which the pair exchanged plenty of painful shots, Emelianenko turned up the pressure in the second round to overwhelm Rogers.

"The main thing is not to be nervous, to take some time during the first round to learn a little bit [about] the opponent and then to look for some [weakness] and then to use it," Emelianenko said through an interpreter.

Rogers still felt he could take Emelianenko but did not fight well enough to.

"I hate it," Rogers said. "I'm coming back stronger. I'm so heated I can't even put it to words, the words that I want to put it to. I doubted myself a little bit. I should have thrown my hands more, a lot more. That's the only reason I failed today."
