Saints Improve To 8-0 Start; Tame Panthers At Dome

New Orleans, LA (AHN) - Drew Brees connected on 24-of-35 for 330 yards with a touchdown and interception, as the New Orleans Saints prevailed over the Carolina Panthers 30-20 Sunday.

The victory enabled the Saints register their first-ever 8-0 start in franchise history.

The Saints remain one of two undefeated NFL teams in the current campaign. Indianapolis is the other club.

Robert Meachem tallied five grabs for 98 yards and score, while Devery Henderson had three catches for 93 yards for the victors.

The Panthers struck early and raced to a 17-6 edge at halftime.

New Orleans finally took control when John Carney scored a 40-yard field goal, pulling the Saints ahead by three points with 4:36 left in the game.

Jake Delhomme finished 17-of-30 for 201 yards and did not register a touchdown, suffering his first setback in the Superdome as a starting quarterback.

The Panthers dropped to a 3-5 mark.
