Carrie Underwood Scores #1 Album With "Play On"

Topics: Entertainment, MusicMiami, FL (CNS) - Carrie Underwood scores her second #1 album on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with "Play On," her third studio album following the multi-platinum "Some Hearts" and "Carnival Ride."

Underwood opens with 318,000 copies sold, the highest total for a female artist this year and the second highest for a country act. Only Rascal Flatts scored higher. She also scores her third Top Country album. The album features her hit country single, "Cowboy Casanova."
Michael Jackson moves down a spot to #2 from #1 last week with "This Is It," the companion album to his posthumous movie. The compilation includes hit tracks as performed in the film, like "Billie Jean," "They Don't Care About Us," and "Earth Song." He sold 196,000 in his second week.
Andrea Bocelli debuts at #3 with his holiday album, "My Christmas," selling 149,000 copies in its first week. The album features collaborations with Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole, and Reba McEntire. The soundtrack to the hit Fox show "Glee," "Glee: The Music, Volume 1," opens at #4 with 113,000 copies sold in its first week.
The latest "Now That's What I Call Music" compilation, Now 32, debuts at #5 with 102,000 copies sold. The latest release features music from Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, and Katharine McPhee. Taylor Swift drops down to #6 this week with 70,000 copies sold.
Weezer debuts at #7 with their latest album, "Raditude," which features the single ""(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To" and "Can't Stop Partying" with Lil Wayne. They sold 66,000 copies their first week.
Closing out the top 10 are Michael Buble with his latest album "Crazy Love" and Sting with his holiday album "If on a Winter's Night," both selling 59,000 copies to land at #8 and #9 respectively. At #10 is the "Twilight Saga: New Moon" soundtrack, with music from Thom Yorke and Death Cab for Cutie, selling 52,000 copies.
