Carson, CA (AHN) - Chivas USA and head coach Preki have agreed to part ways. Preki's contract was set to expire next month and he'll pursue other opportunities.

"Preki has brought a great deal of success to this team, and is an important part of our history," said Chivas USA Vice President of Soccer Operations Stephen Hamilton.

Preki took over Chivas USA in 2007. He was an assistant under Bob Bradley during the 2006 season.

He was named MLS coach of the Year in 2007. He's led Chivas USA to the playoffs in each of his three seasons.

He's also a two-time MLS MVP and known as one of the best attacking players in MLS history.

"It has been an honor to be a part of the Chivas USA family for the last four years," said Preki. "In my time here I have grown as a coach, and I am proud of our accomplishments. While I am excited to take the next step in my career, I will always have good memories of my time with Chivas USA."

Preki was-29-21 at the helm.

Assistant Carlos Llamosa will lead the practices until Chivas USA finds a replacement for Preki.

The next season kicks off in March against the Colorado Rapids.
