Atlanta, GA (AHN) - Ilya Kovalchuk netted a pair of goals, giving him a dozen on the season, helping the Atlanta Thrashers to a 7-0 blowout of the Los Angeles Kings Friday.

Ondrej Pavelec was terrific in goal, notching a shutout with 38 saves.

After a scoreless 30 minutes, the Thrashers got going in the second with goals from Evander Kane, Kovalchuk, Zach Bogosian and Maxim Afinogenov.

Atlanta tacked on third period tallies from Kovalchuk, Afinogenov and Kane, the latter shorthanded  to add insult to injury.

L.A. lost despite outshooting the Thrashers 38-21, as Jonathan Quick was lifted after allowing the first three tallies.

Backup Erik Ersberg was not the answer, in allowing more goals (four) than he collected saves (three).

The Thrashers improved to 9-6-1, while the Kings dropped to 11-7-2.
