Topics: MLBCincinnati, OH (AHN) - The Cincinnati Reds re-signed veteran catcher Ramon Hernandez to a one-year, $3 million contract with a vesting option for 2011.

An 11-year veteran and an All-Star in 2003 with Oakland, Hernandez is guaranteed $3.25 million vesting option, if he appears in 120 contests next season.
The Reds declined to pick up Hernandez's $8.5 million club option and instead gave him the $1 million buyout last week.
Monday's move dispelled some speculation of a salary reduction after earlier reports of a slashed payroll for next year.
With the decision to bring back Hernandez, the Reds' payroll was pushed over $70 million for just filling out the roster.
A trade of one of Cincy's high-priced veterans could address the situation.
Hernandez, acquired from the Orioles in a trade last winter, hit .258 with five home runs and 37 RBI in 81 contests in his first season with the Reds.
