The Memphis Grizzlies and Allen Iverson mutually agreed to part ways Monday. Iverson continues to dig a hole for himself, viewed as a selfish player with plenty of points, but not enough wins.

Iverson's short tenure with the Grizzlies is already over. He just signed a one year contract with the franchise in September.

But he complained about playing time after the very first game. He came off the bench in three appearances and was unhappy.

He averaged 12.3 points and 3.7 assists in the three games this season, playing just over 22 minutes a tilt.

Memphis granted him a leave of absence earlier this month. The team said it was to deal with a personal matter.

He's now waiting to clear waivers after the mutual agreement because of "personal matters."

The 34-year-old was drafted out of Georgetown.

He played his first 10 seasons in Philadelphia. He took the Sixers to the NBA Finals in 2001 as the league MVP.

He then was traded to Denver and the Nuggets eventually shipped him to Detroit. He played a portion of one season in Detroit where he was unhappy with his role in the Motor City and wanted out.

The Knicks have already said they'll look to sign him if he clears waivers, but if his career is over, his legacy could be better.

He's had trouble on and off the court for years.

AI has been surrounded by controversy in every city he's played in.

He holds individual accolades, but he's never won a championship at the highest level.

AI will tote that fact around like baggage whatever direction he goes in life.
