Salpigidis Goal Gives Greece 1-0 Win Vs. Ukraine In World Cup Qualifier

Dimitrios Salpigidis scored in the 31st minute, powering Greece to a 1-0 win over Ukraine Wednesday in a FIFA World Cup 2010 qualifying match at Olympic Stadium.

Salpigidis took advantage of a beautiful through-ball from Giorgos Samaras to find the back of the net with his low, hard shot.

The win propelled Greece into the World Cup for the first time since 1994.

Four yellow cards were issued in the match, three to Greece and one to Ukraine.

Alexandros Tzorvas earned the win in goal for Greece.

Andrei Pyatov allowed the lone goal for Ukraine.
