Clinton In Afghanistan To Attend Karzai Inauguration

Kabul, Afghanistan (AHN) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived unannounced in Kabul, Afghanistan Wednesday to grace the inauguration of President Hamid Karzai.

Clinton met with Karzai at the presidential palace to congratulate him from getting a second term and signal Washington's support for him despite his controversial election victory. She will also deliver Washington's message for the Afghan government to stop corruption.

Clinton also met with the commanders of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan, Generals Stanley A. McChrystal and Karl W. Eikenberry, to get an overview of the security situation in the country.

At the U.S. embassy in Kabul, Clinton praised the diplomatic staff for their work amid a dangerous environment.
