Jimmie Johnson Takes 108-Point Lead Into Season Finale

Topics: Auto RacingHomestead, FL (AHN) - Jimmie Johnson is on the verge of history as he takes a 108-point lead into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season finale this Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Johnson needs only to finish 25th or better in the Ford 400 to win an unprecedented fourth consecutive Cup championship and owns a 108-point lead over over Hendrick Motorsports teammate Mark Martin
Johnson, who has four Chase wins, has 6,492 points and is trailed by Martin (6,384), Jeff Gordon (6,323), Kurt Busch (6,281), Tony Stewart (6,207), Juan Pablo Montoya (6,203), Greg Biffle (6,171), Denny Hamlin (6,140), Ryan Newman (6,081) and Kasey Kahne (6,016).
Chasers Carl Edwards (5,972) and Brian Vickers (5,826) sit in the 11th and 12th positions and are followed by Kyle Busch (4,310), Matt Kenseth (4,265), Clint Bowyer (4,224), David Reutimann (4,103), Jeff Burton (3,847), Marcos Ambrose (3,767), Joey Logano (3,700) and Casey Mears (3,653).
In positions 21st through 29th are: Kevin Harvick (3626), Jamie McMurray (3,495), Martin Truex Jr. (3,365), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (3,343), AJ Allmendinger (3,342), Elliott Sadler (3,310), David Ragan (3,191), Reed Sorenson (3,104) and Sam Hornish Jr. (3,103).
