Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Vice President Joe Biden marks his 67th birthday on Friday working from his home in Delaware.

Biden has no public events scheduled but meets with senior staff via video conference. He also calls members of Congress to gather support for healthcare reform, ahead of a Saturday vote in the Senate that will spell the future for the Obama administration's top legislative agenda.

Biden is capping off an unusual week, becoming the first vice president to appear on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and gaining attention for two separate car crashes involving vehicles of his security detail.

A former chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Biden has taken a key and high-profile role in both domestic and policy issues facing the administration.

He has been tasked by President Barack Obama to coordinate the implementation of the $787 economic stimulus, as well as oversee the political reconciliation of tribal factions and federal autonomous regions in Iraq, where U.S. troops withdrew from cities and localities on June 30.

Biden has also been an active international spokesman for the administration. He set the tone for Obama's foreign policy in a speech before the 45th Munich Conference in February, and made a four-day trip to Eastern Europe last month to assuage Georgia and Ukraine that the United States will not reset its ties with Russia at the expense of any former Soviet satellites.
