United Airways (BD) Launches Service From Bangladesh To Europe

Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - United Airways (BD) Ltd., a leading private sector airline launched a new Dhaka-London route on Saturday, the first private airline to operate flight on this route.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Quader  inaugurated the Dhaka-London flight at the Zia International Airport in the capital, Dhaka on Saturday morning.

The one way special fare for Dhaka-London is BDT 33683 (inclusive of all taxes) and return fare is US$ 695 (exclusive of all taxes). Weekly two flights to London will be operated on Tuesday and Saturday and depart from Dhaka at 1200hrs (local time).

"This operation is undoubtedly an achievement for the Bangladesh Aviation Industry, as United Airways is the first private airline to have planned this prestigious route in Europe" Chairman and Managing Director of United Airways (BD) Captain Tasbirul Ahmed Chowdhury said.

Earlier, former President of Bangladesh HM Ershad inaugurated the Dhaka-London flight service at the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet, a company official told AHN in Dhaka.

Launched on 10 July 2007, the United Airways (BD) Ltd. has some 500 shareholders, 95 percent of which are Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) living in the United Kingdom.

Since its inception, the United Airways is currently operating from Dhaka to Dubai, Kolkata, Chittagong, Jessore, Sylhet, and Cox's Bazar and also from Chittagong to Kolkata.
