South Florida Man On Beer Run Left Beaten, Carjacked

Topics: OffbeatPompano Beach, FL (AHN) - Florida authorities are still looking for a man who attacked and carjacked a driver at a gas station. The driver and a friend were simply on a beer run when a gas station altercation left one man injured and without his vehicle.

Jose Rodriguez, 52, and a friend arrived at a Pompano area BP in early November in Rodriguez's 1998 Pontiac Sunfire. Rodriguez's passenger went inside the gas station to by a 12 pack of Corona's and left his friend outside.
Surveillance video from the scene then shows three men walked up and started arguing with Rodriguez and his friend.
One of the suspects, on the footage seems to be interested in retrieving a jacket left inside Rodriguez's car by a suspect at the scene. The main suspect and second accomplice each argued with Rodriguez and his friend. Then, Rodriguez walked in front of his car and pushed the main suspect, who began to lay punches on Rodriguez
The situation escalated with the main suspect punching Rodriguez several times and Rodriguez falling to the ground. Then, investigators say, the main suspect got into Rodriguez's Sunfire and sped off.
According to Broward County detectives, the other men fled by driving away in the suspect's maroon vehicle.
