Birmingham, AL (CNS) - Rapper DMX is being sued for refusing to fight. The 38-year-old hip-hop artist has been slapped with a lawsuit after backing out of an upcoming celebrity boxing match set for December.

TMZ reported that promoter Thunder Promotions filed documents on Friday in Birmingham, Alabama, claiming the rapper - real name Earl Simmons - is a fraud and led them on because as soon as they refused to fix his fight, he backed out.

Thunder alleges DMX's refusal to fight cost them a lot of money because they had to switch gears late in the game and find a celebrity replacement. The company is asking for $1 million.

Coolio was eventually tapped to enter the ring in his place instead. The boxing match is set to take place on December 12.
