Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Toyota Motor Corp revealed it will recall and replace the accelerator pedals on nearly 4 million of its vehicles. According to the company the pedals can get stuck in the floor mats.

The recall is being conducted to address problems with sudden acceleration or the pedal becoming stuck in the floor mat.

However, until the recall and replacement can be completed the automaker is instructing dealers to shorten the length of the gas pedals while the company develops replacement pedals for the vehicle. The Japanese firm says the new pedals will be available in April and some of vehicles will also have new brake override systems installed just in case.

Some of the firm's more popular vehicles affected by the recall are the Toyota Camry and Prius. Also included is the firm's luxury vehicle, the Lexus ES350. The aforementioned Lexus is the model that sparked the recall when it was involved in a fiery crash in California.
