It will come at a time that the Liberals are suffering from low public support and internal strife.

Aside from performing poorly in the recent federal by-elections in four voting district, the party suffered another setback this week when the wife of former Liberal leader Stephane Dion openly criticized in her Facebook account the leadership of current party leader Michael Ignatieff.
The conference, titled "Canada at 150: Rising to the Challenge" will be held in Montreal on March 26 to 28. Progressive thinkers and activists will be invited to the event to help reshape the party, Canada's largest opposition party.
Ignatieff, to announce the summit, accused the Tory-led government of short-term focus. He alleged the federal government, headed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, does not look beyond the evening newscast, and for that alleged shortsightedness Canadian families are suffering.
The party has taken every opportunity to hit the Conservative party in a bid to gain media mileage and public sympathy. Last week, Liberal Finance critic John McCallum accused the Tories of wasting a historic opportunity to invest in the country's future economic growth. McCallum lamented the Conservative instead wasted billions of dollars on advertising, signage and pork barrel projects.
