A day after being thrashed by Tim Tebow and the Gators, 37-10, the 80-year-old Bowden indicated in his Sunday teleconference with the media that he wants to return for 35th season at Florida State.
The legendary Bowden, who trails only Penn State's Joe Paterno in total number of victories in Div I-FBS, has stated more than once he would like to coach again in 2010.
Bowden also indicated that he would only return to the sideline next season as FSU's head coach.
Head coach-in-waiting Jimbo Fisher is slated to replace Bowden by January 2011.
In the event Fisher is not in charge of the program by that period, he will receive a $5 million payout.
Bowden has a one-year contract that is set to expire in January.
Meanwhile, FSU, which dropped to a 6-6 overall record following Saturday's setback, will have to win the bowl game in order to save Bowden from recording a second sub-.500 campaign with the Seminoles.
