Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - The 2008 film "Wild Child" is currently available on DVD.

The movie, available through Universal Studios Home Entertainment, stars young actress Emma Roberts in a role different than much of the family entertainment in which she has previously appeared.

Roberts portrays Poppy, a spoiled 16-year-old living in Los Angeles and enjoying the benefits of being rich and young. Her long history of thoughtless behavior finally comes to a head, leading to her father (Aidan Quinn) shipping her off to a British boarding school. Hating the strict environment of the school, Poppy considers every possible way to get out of it. But trying to get herself expelled is harder than she originally thought, and with a new group of friends, it may not be that bad.

The film, not released theatrically in the United States, also features a British cast including Shirley Henderson, Alex Pettyfer, Nick Frost and the late Natasha Richardson as the school's headmistress.

The DVD's special features include a "making of" segment, audio commentary from director Nick Moore and Lucy Dahl and featurettes such as "Head Girl Tour," "Lacrosse," "Ghostville" and "School Memories."

The movie is one of many recent starring roles for up-and-coming Roberts, the daughter of actor Eric Roberts, brother of Julia Roberts. Among her credits are a role on the Nickelodeon show "Unfabulous" and parts in films like "Aquamarine," "Lymelife," "Hotel for Dogs" and "The Winning Season," as well as the title role in "Nancy Drew," which is scheduled for an upcoming sequel. Roberts' upcoming projects include the romantic comedy "Valentine's Day," the Joel Schumacher drama "Twelve" and the film "What's Wrong with Virginia," written and directed by Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who took home for the award for 2008's "Milk."

The DVD of "Wild Child" retails for $26.98.
