Louisville, KY (AHN) - DeMarcus Cousins turned in 24 points and grabbed 10 boards to lead the Kentucky Wildcats to a 94-57 trouncing of UNC-Asheville Monday.

Patrick Patterson added 17 points and nine rebounds, while Darnell Dodson chipped in 15 points off the bench in the Wildcats' annual appearance at Freedom Hall.

With the win, the 'Cats improved to a 7-0 mark.

It is the best start by Kentucky coach John Calipari in an inaugural season since Adolph Rupp's 10-0 start in 1931

Freshman John Wall, who paced the Wildcats in the championship victory over Stanford in the Cancun Challenge, logged 12 points, 14 assists and six steals.

The Wildcats raced to 45-23 advantage at the intermission and never looked back.

Sean Smith scored 19 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs, who dropped to a dismal 0-6 mark.

Monday's tilt marked the first meeting between the two schools.

The Wildcats will aim to carry the momentum when they clash with defending champion North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday in Lexington.
