A spokesman for the Pierce County sheriff's office confirmed the news of the killing at an address provided to them by leads.
Authorities say Clemmons had no ties to the house he was believed to have been hiding in and believe he was dropped off in the neighborhood Sunday evening. The area where the home is in is described as woodsy and hilly providing ample hiding places.
Reportedly the Seattle police department was involved in a the 2 a.m. shooting on Tuesday ending a two day police hunt for the only suspect in the brutal execution style killing.
On Sunday Maurice Clemmons, 37, committed the ambush-style killing of four police officers from Lakewood, about 40 miles south of Seattle.
The slain officers were identified as Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39; Officer Ronald Owens, 37; Officer Tina Griswold, 40; and Officer Greg Richards, 42. All of the officers were parents and had served the department since its inception.
Authorities said they believe Clemmons' friends and family had been providing authorities with false leads during their search to question Clemmons. It was those bits of false information which officials say led police and SWAT members to surround a Seattle home for 11 hours Sunday night and into Monday ultimately proving unsuccessful in capturing the suspect as he was able to slip away.
Clemmons was a known criminal in both Washington and Arkansas and has an extensive rap sheet.
