BET Features Week-Long Call To Stop Spread Of AIDS

Topics: TelevisionNew York, NY (CNS) - BET has joined the call to stop the spread of HIV. The cable network is dedicating a full episode of "106 & Park" to the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic on the World AIDS Day on Tuesday.

Throughout the week, BET and its Emmy Award-winning initiative Rap-It-Up are partnering with The Magic Johnson Foundation, The National Medical Association, Metro Teen AIDS, radio station WPGC-FM and the D.C. campus community to target the epidemic.
On Monday, the network premiered the film "God, ME & HIV" in partnership with The National Medical Association.
BET Networks and the Magic Johnson Foundation will be holding an open discussion with the teens at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts on Tuesday 9:30 a.m. On the same day at 6 p.m., the cabler and WPGC-FM will be unveiling the World AIDS Day "Yo Listen Up" discussion.
And on Friday, the network, Metro Teen AIDS, and Realtalk DC will be conducting free testing, music and education at the Realtalk Festival at 6 p.m.
Rap-It-Up is a comprehensive public education campaign by BET and the Kaiser Family foundation that aims to inform young people about sexual health issues, such as HIV/AIDS.
