San Jose, CA, United States (AHN) - A car dealer repossessed the car of a single mother while her baby was still in the backseat.

Isabel Leuvano, 26, called 911 to recover her two-year-old son Cyrus.  The baby was unharmed and was found at the car dealership in San Jose. Leuvano apparently left the car engine running, with her son in the backseat, while she went to pick up her daughter, from her ex-husband's home, at Hedding Street, Park Avenue.

Alberto Luna, 47, the repo man, was unaware of the child until he arrived at the shop and put the baby in his office until police arrived. He explained the incident and was not charged because repossession without notification is allowed under the law.

Meanwhile, strangers from across the country offered to help Leuvano recover the car. She owes Luna $570 plus $300 in repossession fees.

Good samaritan Mary Miller, 63, a retired university director, said Thursday she will write a check for Leuvano's expenses.
