New York, NY, United States (CNS) -  Could the "King of All Media" be replacing Simon Cowell next season on American Idol?  Rumor has it that Howard Stern, who once called the competition reality show a "karaoke contest" is looking to secure himself a seat on the judging panel but not without a price - a cool $100 million, that is.

Stern himself confirmed the rumors Monday morning on his satellite radio show, telling his listeners that producers have indeed contacted him as a possible replacement for the tough-talking Simon Cowell.  What's more, Stern also confirmed that he is willing to take the job, but at a price that he sets, and leave his comfortable Sirius XM job behind.

"It might be possible.  We'll see," Stern told his listeners.  "Name a person who could bring more excitement to the show than me."

One thing die-hard Stern fans appreciate from the shock-jock is his approach and honest opinions of the entertainment world as a whole.  His sharp tongue and over-the-top wit and humor would surely bring a new audience and even higher ratings to the slowly sinking ship the reality show's ratings seem to be sitting in.  It's just too bad a possible Stern wouldn't be sitting next to Paula Abdul.

Stern's contract with his satellite radio show expires in January.
