AHN College Internship Program
An internship with AHN offers a rewarding educational
and professional experience. During your internship you'll get to immerse yourself in news
writing and news reporting in a dynamic and cutting-edge editorial environment.
You will play an active and contributing role, and work with reporters and colleagues that will challenge you and appreciate your ideas and contributions.

- Resume and personal cover letter (indicate your desired internship session)
- A brief 500 word essay on why you should be selected
for the program
- Three (3) sample news articles
- Three (3) references, ideally faculty members or supervisors
- Copies of your transcripts - (a recent unofficial copy is sufficient)
Intern Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled junior, senior or graduate student at a two or four year college or university post graduate program
- Strong academic record
- US citizen or national, permanent resident, or a student with temporary work authorizations, such as students in practical training status (i.e. F1, J1 visas)
- Strong work ethic & determination to succeed
Common Questions
Do I have to be enrolled in school to be an AHN Intern?
Yes! You must be a full-time student currently enrolled in a two or four year college or university degree program to qualify for an AHN internship. If you've already completed your undergraduate degree, you must demonstrate current or upcoming enrollment in an accredited graduate program for the following term in order to apply for an internship. AHN does not offer internships to high school students.
From what kinds of degree programs are AHN interns typically hired?
Most AHN interns are studying some type of journalism. AHN does take on interns from non-journalism areas as needed, including IT, finance, media arts, or graphic design, among others. Successful intern candidates from non-journalism fields usually have some previous journalism knowledge or experience.
To what kinds of projects are interns assigned?
AHN believes that all internships should be challenging, offering quality hands-on experiences that can be taken back to school, to another internship, or to a full-time job, whether at FeedSyndicate or at another company. AHN interns are assigned active and contributing roles and functions on small teams with other full-time AHN reporters and employees.
Where do AHN interns work?
AHN journalism interns usually work remotely (telecommute) under the supervision of a mentoring reporter using our Virtual News Desk. This means that you may telecommute from home,
school or any other location. All other interns will work at AHN South Florida offices. The specifics are determined on a case-by-case basis and will be discussed during your interview.
Are AHN Interns paid?
The AHN Intern program provides valuable practical work experience and is
typically non-paid and carries no employee benefits.
A stipend of may be provided for special projects or programs longer than 3
months
Does AHN hire students from outside of the US?
To apply, you must be a US citizen or national, a US permanent resident, a student who has been granted asylum, or a refugee. People with temporary work authorizations, such as students in practical training status (i.e. F1, J1 visas), will be considered only if enrolled in graduate level programs.
