FDA warns acid reducers can cause severe diarrheaThe Food and Drug Administration warned Wednesday that people who use stomach acid drugs known as proton pump inhibitors may increase their risk of coming down with a type of diarrhea that does not improve. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) include such popular brands as Nexium, Prilosec and Prevacid.

Merchant Marine midshipmen treated for carbon monoxide exposureMore than 40 midshipmen from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, were taken to the hospital Sunday night and treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. Three had to be flown to a hospital with a hyperbaric chamber. A water heater was the source of the leak.
