Planned wolf hunt in Minnesota unveiledA plan to allow the first wolf hunt in more than 40 years in Minnesota was unveiled Wednesday by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. It will allow up to 6,000 Minnesotans the chance to hunt and trap wolves later this year.

Kentuckys first sandhill crane hunting season fails to hit markThe controversial sandhill crane hunting season, the first legal hunt of the migratory bird in Kentucky, was deemed a success despite failing to meet the states quota. According to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, only 50 sandhill cranes were taken in the inaugural season.

FAA says ultralight pilots can resume flights with whooping cranesThe interrupted migration of a group of whooping cranes may continue to its destination at a wildlife preserve in Florida. The ultralight-led flight of the nine cranes was halted last week after the Federal Aviation Administration ruled that the pilots of the kite-like craft could not be compensated.

Michigan hunter takes down huge bull on first elk huntThe absence of snow made it more difficult for hunter to find elk tracks, but it was not a problem for Ada hunter Joe Zupancic, who dropped a huge 7 by 6 bull on his first elk hunt. Zupancics luck began when he was chosen as one of 77 state and tribal hunters drawn in this years lottery for the December elk hunt.
